Announcement from Soundings
Soundings Audio

The final edition of the monthly Soundings audio magazine was produced in March 2008. This web site, which used to carry the magazine, its component interviews and audio material to support those who provide information for visually-impaired people, ceased operating on 31st March. [more on closure of Soundings]

Soundings postal addresses and phone numbers, in both Birmingham and Brighton, are no longer functioning and the Soundings Forum on-line discussion group has been closed. However incoming e-mails to audio@soundings.org are being monitored for the time being.

Since the beginning of the year, an on-line service, called Infosound, has been offering free, accessible, impartial and relevant information for those in the UK who live with sight loss. Each 15-minute 'briefing' covers a variety of different topics, often with comment from providers of support, advice, help, goods and services.

It is intended for individual blind and partially-sighted people, their families, friends and carers to access and for talking newspaper and magazine groups, as well as radio stations and other information providers, to freely use in their own audio publications and programmes.

Infosound's audio material can be played and downloaded from the charity's web site at www.infosound.org.uk and everything they produce is also podcast.
